NEW YORK, NEW YORK!!!

Yesterday we left Boston, the city of adventure, and drove to New York City.  We had surprisingly few traffic issues once we got south of Boston, which really pleasantly-surprised us.  Sandi was in her element! She had contacted a friend with VLOG (Village Light Opera Group) and found that several of them were meeting in Manhattan for dinner and then a show.  We got a motel room in Queens because the cost was so much less and found our way to the subway.  Off we went! I am so very glad Sandi was with me...I got so turned around that I couldn't tell north from south from east from west! We trotted (literally!) off to the Celtic Pub and Grill and met her friends (I finally had Bangers and Mash) and had a wonderful time.  Sandi's friends miss her so very much; however, I didn't feel guilty that I have her in Portland now - they had her for 40 years and it's my turn.  Now, I have a terrible confession to make: I forgot to take my camera with me! Fortunately, I did have my cell phone so I was able to take some pictures, but the camera didn't come into play until last night.  So, here is the view from our motel room.

Night time view from our room!
We're heading to Williamsburg, VA today and will be there at least 3 nights.  We'll go up to Washington, D.C. from there on one day (yes I know, it's not nearly enough time, but Sandi and I want to get home some day!) and spend a couple of days in Williamsburg.  Then it will be on to Monticello and then Bristol, TN!

  1. I found New York City a fascinating place and it's the only place in the world I couldn't tell direction because all the tall buildings left too many shadows at all weird angles. So looking forward to your visit!! Saw your pictures; I would have recognized Sandi anywhere! Much love to you both - S
